Scented candles and wax melts not only fill your space with delightful fragrances but also have therapeutic benefits. Certain scents can help relax the mind, reduce stress, and create a calming atmosphere.

Are scented candles and wax melts triggers for asthma or allergies?

It is possible that a particular fragrance may trigger a negative reaction in a small amount of individuals with known sensitivities to a specific fragrance these individuals may want to avoid any items with those scents, Remember to burn candles scented or unscented in a well ventilated area.

How long do your candles burn for?

Our candles have a burning time of 4oz 20 hours and 8oz 40 hours on average. The exact duration may vary depending on the size and type of the candle. Be sure to follow the instructions provided to maximise burn time, when only 1/4 inch of wax remains the candle should no longer be burned, and the jar can be repurposed.

What if my candle starts to tunnel?

Remember to let your candle burn for at least 2 hours when first lit this will allow the whole top layer of the candle to melt out to the edges of the container, this will also form a memory melt for the following times you light the candle.

Do scented candles produce soot?

The oils found in fragrance oils may slightly increase the small amount of soot produced by a candle, but wick length and flame disturbance are the main factors that impact sooting remember to trim wicks before every use.

How do I change my Wax melt?

If your warmer has been on and your wax is liquid, take two cotton balls, put them in the warmer tray, let it absorb the wax and discard cotton balls. Then take a paper towel and wipe away any excess wax.

If your wax warmer is not on and the wax has hardened, we think it is easier to remove it by turning the warmer back on /relighting the tea light for 10-30 seconds so the wax loosens in the dish and is easier to remove as a solid piece. Apply a light amount of pressure to the melt and the melt should pop out in a semi solid form. Be sure to wipe away any excess with a paper towel.

Are your candles and wax melts eco-friendly?

At wick by the sea, we prioritise sustainability and use eco-friendly materials in our candle and wax melt production. We use soy wax and soy wax wicks as standard unless stated otherwise, as soy wax is made from vegetable oil soy candles and wax melts  burn cleaner and release fewer toxins plus our wax melts come in recyclable packaging.

What is the frosting surface on the top of my candle or wax melt?

Frosting (cloudy uneven appearance on the candle and wax melt surface) is a natural crystal growth of the vegetable oils and is a natural characteristic of soy. It is a way a customer can tell their candles and wax melts are made with 100% pure & natural soy. Some fragrances are more prone to causing this than others.
It is a perfectly normal characteristic of natural wax (especially Soy). It is nothing to worry about and in no way affects the burning of the candle or wax melt.

Do your candles and wax melts have a shelf life?

As our candles and wax melts are scented soy wax they have a 1-2 year shelf life, After this time the scent may weaken and the candle may not burn even. If kept in a cool dark place away from direct sunlight they can last longer than 2 years however the wax may darken or change slightly.
